Join Whidbey Children’s Theatre as we celebrate our 2023-2024 Season
Encore!
10 years ago, WCT relocated to our current home on the South Whidbey Community
Center campus and, since then have produced 43 plays and musicals, hosted field trips,
taught classes, and had countless events – serving over 1000 actors and crew through
our production program alone.
Our story has always included reinvention and growth – after all, theatre is dynamic and
follows the evolution of the human condition. Like a child that grows and changes, you
appreciate all its phases, perhaps mourning the loss of one, yet excited about the one to
come. And while we generally focus on “What haven’t we done yet?” when we design
our season, there are times where the call to revisit treasured moments must be
answered.
And so, we welcome you to this season that we call Encore! An opportunity to revisit
some cherished memories from the past ten years of this child that we all have raised to
the beloved being it is today.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Fall Mainstage Play – 7th-12th Grades
Early on a September morning the villagers of a quiet New England town welcome an outsider to their midst. When Ichabod Crane, their new schoolmaster, finally arrives, his priggish correctness casts a pall over the gossipy townsfolk. Mystery and mayhem ensue, coming to a head during the Van Tassel’s Halloween party when the poor, superstitious newcomer is accosted by the fiendish – and headless – Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next morning Ichabod has disappeared, and thus, the Legend begins.

Like in any good adventure, Rudolph meets and is accompanied by another misfit, Hermey the hopeful dentist. Together they encounter fearful frights and moments of revelation. Shrek, The Musical
Summer Family Classic Musical –
10 years - Alumni!
It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
