Giving Tree Program
GROWTH THAT MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
Whidbey Children’s Theater started as a seedling theater program for young children over thirty years ago. Our founder, Martha Murphy, introduced a handful of children to the magic of theater and since then, WCT has grown in scope, in size, and in dreams come true. In 2013, we moved to our new space next to the Langley Middle School, and our horizons widened along with the size of our stage!
In our new location, we are bringing arts opportunities to more students than ever. Last season WCT worked with over 1000 students, 150 of which had never been part of our theater before!
Young artists explore performing arts through camps, workshops and intensives, perform in full-scale productions, smaller black box presentations and develop other theater skills like tech design, stage crew, stage management and more. They grow in ways they never knew they would and develop friendships and skills that last a lifetime.
Children and teens who participate in this program have varied back-stories but share a similar goal; to be part of a community of peers who value creativity, challenge, team-work and, above all, a sense of family support that is as much a part of our mission as putting on dynamic and challenging theater.
By purchasing a leaf on the WCT Giving Tree you have an opportunity to recognize the impact WCT has had on your life or the life of someone you love as well as leave a legacy in their honor, all while contributing to the healthy growth of this family-friendly program.
Thousands of imaginations have been sheltered-—and borne fruit—under the WCT tree. We thank you for being a part of it!
